Good Girl Creative Ltd is a Women-only event organisation, I first heard about through an interview I did with the photographic boudoir company, ThatBoudoirCouple. Who briefly mentioned them as an example of two creatives in a similar genre of ‘lingerie style shoots’ but held a different overall message. Founded by Georgia and Ag, the Good Girl mission is dedicated to crafting a safe space for women to come along mingle, share, and create visual content that aims to rebuild their bodily confidence, and feminine divinity through thematic photoshoots. Whether you decide to be fully clothed or in no clothes, you will leave the event feeling part of a community, certainly part of their message of ‘shameless, sexy, self-expression’, but also want to upgrade your wardrobe...
Good Girl Creative has given women the tools to reignite their confidence, be unapologetically empowered, and back themselves against the bodily societal pressures put on the femme identity. This event is more than just a photoshoot, the hosts need to start from the ground up, as although posing and dressing up advocate the feeling of ‘sexy’ to a certain degree such emotion and adrenaline is short-lived. Feeling sexy needs to come from within. To begin to achieve this goal, the event is structured with activities that help to build a community and connection in a short amount of time. Although, standing in your underwear might be considered the easiest form of an icebreaker - it is anything but. The first activity Circle Time provided each ‘Good Girl’ a chance to get to know each other and reflect on their own goals. What was most dumbfounding in the ac- activity was the easiest question; “What do we love about ourselves,” revealed the most striking answer -
Silence.
Many people believe that those who partake are overconfident and hypersexual. Yet some of the participants, although perhaps involved in the erotic industry in some form or another; burlesque dancers, glamour / Only Fans (an erotic subscription site) models or swingers – were found to be mainly the ones who lacked the most bodily confidence.
Seeing the struggle to answer what should be the uttermost simplest question we all should be able to answer in an instant, clearly sets out the objectives of the day.
More self-love.
This series captures the behind-the-scenes of a good girl event, highlighting how Good Girls Creative has provided a space for these women and even myself to begin the journey to find more self-love.
